Convention 2014: Canterbury - Partners

Castrol Confirms Support for the National Ford Mustang Convention,
Christchurch, October 2014

Castrol New Zealand and the Canterbury Mustang Owners Club are pleased to announce that Castrol lubricants will be a key supporting sponsor of the forthcoming 2014 National Ford Mustang Convention to be held in Christchurch at Labour weekend. This convention has special significance, being the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the legendary Mustang model, first introduced in April 1964.

Castrol and Ford have a very special and close relationship across many fronts. Castrol is one of the primary sponsors of the FPR Falcon V8 Supercar team, with FPR Castrol driver Mark Winterbottom currently leading the V8 Supercar championship. Castrol have also long been involved in Ford’s global WRC rally programs, and on a day to day basis Castrol is the lubricant of choice for many of Ford’s New Zealand Ford dealerships.

“Our association with the 2014 Ford Mustang Convention is a natural fit for Castrol, and our premium Castrol EDGE lubricants” said Jayne McEwan, Senior Trade Marketing Manager of Castrol New Zealand. “We recognise the significance of the 50th anniversary and celebrations of this iconic and legendary automotive brand, and Castrol is very excited about our role as a supporting partner in the weekend long activities with NZ’s Mustang fraternity.”

The 2014 National Ford Mustang convention is being organised by the Canterbury Mustang Owners Club, with sponsors such as Castrol being a key part of the Club’s overall business plan to provide attendees with a superb, celebratory get-together in October. The host club is planning on a display of over 200 Ford Mustangs, all under one roof, together with an associated “pony run” and a special closed track day at Ruapuna. Potentially this will be one of NZ’s biggest ever one make conventions.

Nine Major Ford Dealers Go Further to Support the
2014 Mustang Convention and 50th Celebrations

As planning ramps up for the 2014 National Ford Mustang Convention in Christchurch in October, a significant milestone has been achieved, whereby nine of NZ’s largest Ford dealerships from Auckland to Christchurch have confirmed their support for the event, recognising the special “once in 50 years” opportunity and the growing strength of the Mustang brand and legend in the NZ market.

President Jeff Waghorn from the Canterbury Mustang Owners Club, the organising club for this year’s event, is enthusiastic and appreciative of the decision that that each of these Ford Dealers has made. “As Mustang owners, and as Mustang Clubs from around NZ, we value the support of our local Ford dealers. Over the years, and across NZ, we have seen and understand that such support can vary, depending upon business conditions and other factors. It’s really great now to have nine of the largest dealers come on board as partners for our 2014 event, and to know that they recognise the opportunity provided by the 2014 convention to forge even closer relationships with the clubs and Mustang owners in their local areas.”

The sponsorship support committed by each of these nine Ford Dealers will strengthen even further the Ford branding of the overall event, reflecting the global recognition and profile that the Mustang is receiving in its 50th anniversary year, and ahead of the impending launch of the all new 2015 model year Mustang into NZ in right hand drive. The Mustang spirit will be very much to the fore in Christchurch at Labour Weekend (October 24 – 27) when approximately 225 or more Mustangs spanning the 50 year legend will gather from all over NZ for one of largest ever single model automotive gatherings in this country.

Christchurch, October 2014

Turners Car Auctions and the Canterbury Mustang Owners Club are pleased to announce Turners’ role as a key supporting sponsor of the forthcoming 2014 National Ford Mustang Convention to be held in Christchurch at Labour weekend.
