The Grouse New 2002 Mustang Cobra!

The first Mustang model ever sold by the New Zealand Ford Dealer network.

Two models are available; a hardtop and a convertible.

The cars are assembled in America, shipped to Australia, undergo an extensive conversion to right hand drive, and are then shipped to New Zealand.

The cars are fitted with all factory options with one exception. There is no automatic gearbox; a five speed manual is standard.

Ford quote the car standing quarter mile time as 13.8 seconds, with a 0 to 60 kph time of 5.6 seconds.

This rapid performance is generated by a 240 kW all alloy, (but with iron liners)  4 valves per cylinder (32 valve) fuel injected V8 of 4.6 litres. Compression ratio is 9.85:1, maximum power is created at 6,000 rpm, and maximum torque at 4,750 rpm.

Macpherson strut suspension is used at the front, with a 28 mm stabilizer bar, and the rear is independent training arms with 26 mm stabilizer bar. Gas shocks and ABS ventilated disc brakes are used all round.
